With more than two decades of experience in international arbitration practice and a distinguished academic career, Dr. Gloria M Álvarez brings credibility and commitment to her role as an international arbitrator, drawing on her world-class skills.

Based in Mexico and the United Kingdom, her practice is noted for its attention to detail and efficiency in dispute resolution.

She has experience as president of arbitral tribunals, sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, and in expedited proceedings under the rules of the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, CAM (Mexico), CANACO (Mexico), and CCL (Peru).

She has worked with parties from Italy, England, Ireland, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, the United States, and Gambia.

Her experience covers the energy (PPAs), construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, aviation, and maritime sectors in commercial and investment arbitrations, in both civil law and common law jurisdictions.

During the 2026-2028 term, she will serve as President of the UNCITRAL WG III Academic Forum, dedicated to investment arbitration and investor-State dispute settlement.

Since 2023, she is part of the “Mexican Women in Science” list of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, being the only representative from the legal field.

She is a law graduate from Tecnológico de Monterrey, with experience in national and international commercial arbitration.

Her work focuses on providing administrative support to the arbitral tribunal in the management of proceedings.

Her competitive training in international moot courts and her participation in arbitration forums as a speaker and writer reinforce her analytical skills, argumentation, and precision in legal writing.

She has also served as an advisor and coach for moot courts and as an arbitrator in Moot Mexico.

María Fernanda is a law student at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

She has a deep interest and experience in national and international commercial arbitration, particularly in the energy, construction, and infrastructure sectors, oil & gas, as well as supply contracts, under the rules of the ICC, CAM, and CANACO.

She acts as a mentor and member of the Tecnológico de Monterrey debate team, where she has led her teams to win several national awards in competitions such as Moot Mexico.

She also contributes as a writer to the student law journal Dicho & Derecho, where she has published several academic papers recognized by the Tecnológico de Monterrey School of Social Sciences and Government.
